The following newsletter was emailed to all members Aug 1 2017

Summer is in full force and the river is bustling with activity. The water level has dropped and the usual sandbars can be seen. If you get stuck on one please do not use your paddle to push yourself out. It can lead to broken paddles. Speaking of broken equipment please email equipment@saskatooncanoeclub.org if you know of anything that needs repair.

Group Paddle Reminder
Group paddles are a great time to meet other paddles and try new things. If you need a partner you can be paired up with someone else.
Recreation: Thursdays at 6:30 pm
Marathon: Wednesdays at 6:30 pm and Sundays at 10:00 am

Registration Update
We have just crossed the 1500 member mark. If you are one of the people who registered but have not yet made it to the boathouse we will still be running tours until the end of August. You can sign up for one at https://zone4.ca/register.asp?id=15013.

Social Coordinator Wanted
Do you love canoeing/kayaking and being social? We want you! We are looking for an enthusiastic member to join our board as the new Social Director. Interested? Email president@saskatooncanoeclub.org

Boathouse Monitors
We will continue to have volunteers monitoring the boathouse at random times to keep an eye on things. They are there to make sure everyone has a positive experience and that best practices are followed. If you are interested in helping out email membership@saskatooncanoeclub.org

Solo Canoes
The club has several solo canoes that make a great alternative to a kayak when you are by yourself. They are lightweight and can be paddled with a kayak paddle.

Upcoming Trips

August 25th-27th, 2017 - Outlook to Saskatoon 3 day, 2 night trip.

(Room for 12 travellers - 4 people registered so far)

Friday we plan to meet at The Boathouse at noon and gear up and load all 6 canoes, then we'll travel to Outlook. We're hoping to be on the Water before 3pm and get 3 hours of paddling in Friday night prior to setting up camp.

Saturday we will be starting at 9AM, paddle downstream and break for an hour lunch around noon. We'll paddle till 6pm or 6:30pm before setting up camp for supper and sleeping.

Sunday starting your day at 9 a.m. we're planning a leisurely lunch and the balance of the trip is expected to take 4-6 hours depending on water speed and the pace we travel. We expect to be off the water before 5 p.m. on Sunday maybe even as early as 2 p.m.

Bring your own food, water and camping supplies.

Outlook Regional Park charges a Daily vehicle fee of $8 to get into their Regional Park if you don't already have a yearly pass.

(A fee of $5 per adult per day for use of the club equipment also applies to this trip. Cost for a member for the weekend would be $15.)
