Sat 29th Sept: ½ Day Trip from Fred Heal to Saskatoon, Victoria Boathouse
This would be a half a day canoe trip from Fred Heal to Saskatoon end of September to enjoy bright autumn afternoon in water and to observe the bird migration. (Room for 12 travelers)
On Saturday 29th, we plan to meet at The Boathouse at 2:30pm and gear up and load all max 6 canoes, then we'll travel to Fred Heal Canoe Launch Fred Heal Canoe Launch. We should be on the water by 3:30pm and it takes about 3-4 hours (20.5 km paddle) to paddle in, depending on weather and stops. We will coordinate carpooling in advance, leaving one or two vehicles in order to then drive back out to get the cars from the launch site.
We intend this to be a family-friendly, beginner-friendly paddle with a few stops and some floating time, so we will take our time and enjoy the scenery! There will also be a brief intro to paddling strokes at the beginning for those of you who are newer paddlers. In the event of extreme weather, we’ll also reschedule or cancel.
Bring your own food (snacks), water and supplies.
(A fee of $5 per adult for use of the club equipment also applies to this trip. All travellers must be 2018 SCC members to participate.)
Email Tiina Liiving (social@saskatooncanoeclub.org) if you’re interested in joining us!
