The following email was sent to all 2019 members on June 5, 2020
The Saskatoon Canoe Club (SCC) is now open in a modified way! We are excited to get people out paddling again, but there are some changes to the way we are operating in order to keep our members, staff, and community safe.
Thank you to those who have already renewed their membership for 2020. For anyone else curious about how things are set up this year in response to COVID-19, please read on.
Our detailed operation plan is available here, but the key changes from past years can be summarized as follows:
- Members may only access the boathouse and SCC equipment while staff or trained volunteers are present to ensure that boats and equipment are properly disinfected after each use. We will generally not be giving out the door code to members this year. The boathouse supervisors’ schedule is here.
- All members must supply their own PFD and whistle. If you don’t have this equipment and are unable to obtain it on your own, speak with a boathouse supervisor or email staff@saskatooncanoeclub.org to request assistance in acquiring a PFD/whistle for your paddling session.
- All members must complete and submit this waiver before they will be permitted to use any SCC equipment.
- We suggest that members reside in the same household in order to paddle in the same boat together.
- All group paddles, lessons, and club trips are suspended until further notice.
- The public washroom at the boathouse is currently closed to our members and the public.
- Maintain physical distancing between your household group and all other SCC members and staff at all times.
- Do not enter the boathouse unless directed to do so by the boathouse supervisor.
- Use the hand sanitizer provided when you arrive, when you get back off the water, and as you leave the boathouse.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate the new requirements. SCC registration is online as usual. Hope to see you on the water soon!
Happy paddling,
The Saskatoon Canoe Club Executive
