Water level alert still valid!

The water level and current speed on the river is still fairly high. Therefore, plan before you go: check the weather forecast and the river flow rate. The current flow rate is about 450 m³/s, which is navigable for intermediate skill sets and higher.

More info:

If you happen to tip and lose the boat and paddlers involved get out of the water safely, please call the fire department non-emergency number (306-975-3030) and contact with your names and contact information. When you contact the fire department please let them know the estimated location of the incident and that the people in the lost boat are safe. Describe the boat (including hull number) so they can match it up with any reports from the public. The aim of this is to avoid sending a rescue effort that isn’t needed.
Incident plans will be posted within the boathouse soon for members to reference.

Upcoming Club Trips
Three more trips open to all Recreation Div. members have been posted and are accepting participants. See for more information or to sign up. Space is limited, so get your name in early if you want to go.
1. Churchill River Whitewater Festival, June 28 to July 1
A weekend of good food, music, and whitewater fun. Great for rookies interested to see what whitewater paddling is all about, for experienced paddlers to put their skills to the test, and for anyone who thinks a party with 100 people on a Canadian Shield island is the perfect way to celebrate the Canada Day weekend.
2. Brabant Lake to Southend, July 21 to 28
A wilderness trip with solitude, excellent fishing, and beautiful scenery. Paddle two very different rivers: the Wapiskau, a small drop-pool river with plenty of picturesque waterfalls and prime walleye habitat; and the Reindeer, a broad, smooth, clear river draining Canada’s 9th largest lake.
3. Pelican Narrows to Sandy Bay, Aug. 25 to Sept. 3
Explore an important part of the voyageur highway through a chain of lakes to Frog Portage and then venture into the big waters of the lower Churchill, where magnificent waterfalls and a spectacular gorge are things to be seen and heard. Classic shield country campsites abound and the fishing and berry picking should be great.

Restricted or difficult access to boathouse due to race!
June 10 - The 2nd annual Good Food Run in support of CHEP will start at 10am close to Boathouse.
June 16 - Brainsport Kids of Steel Triathlon Saturday. The road and parking lot by the boathouse will be closed 8:30-11:30 for the Brainsport Kids of Steel Race

Group paddles
SCC runs some group paddles which are a great way to meet other club members and learn from each other as well as to help beginners get onto the water safely. There is generally lots of space for more people to attend.
The recreation division group paddles take place Thursdays at 6:30pm (weather permitting). The marathon division meets Wednesday at 6:30pm and Sunday at 10:00am. For more info email the division directors.

Website update
The website used to run the orientation quiz was compromised. While it appears the hackers only redirected visitors to their site it is possible they took a copy of your answers to the quiz which includes your name and email address. Your personal info and credit card details are processed by a completely separate website that was not affected.
